The churches and chapels in Hudiksvall and surrounding area show a variety of architecture and building methods from the early Middle Ages to the present day.
Enånger's old church (left, interior) one of the best preserved medieval churches in Hälsingland, is well worth a visit. It has 15th century frescoes which, fortunately, have never been whitewashed.
Njutånger church dates from the Middle Ages. It contains a 13th century font and some 16th century paintings.
Hälsingtuna church was built around 1150, but was added to in the latter half of the Middles Ages. Fragments of frescoes have been found which are believed to be the oldest in Hälsingland.
